The two GRIN reference pages on CoinMarketCap and CoinGecko currently redirect to a fake Grin X Account promoting scam telegram links. CoinMarketCap and CoinGecko serve as references for people seeking information, and I fear that this could create a bad experience for newcomers, potentially discouraging them…
Could we either recover the X account or submit an official request to CoinMarketCap and CoinGecko and take the opportunity to update the other information (Telegram group…)?
Thanks for the links.
I’ll try submit a request as Grin co-creator.
Coingecko sent me an email:
We would like to inform you that your request (CU1911240075) to update Grin (GRIN) has been received and is currently being evaluated. You should hear back from us within 5 business days.
And CMC sent me:
Your request (1015994) has been received and is being reviewed by our staff.
We are sorry to inform you that your request to update Grin on CoinGecko has been rejected. For more information, you may also check your submissions list.
but my submissions page shows
Submission has been rejected. Do refer to the “Remarks” column for more information. Note that rejection is final and the team will re-evaluate in approximately 2 weeks time.
and under Request Details it shows:
Reasons for rejection:
We have removed Twitter and Telegram links
That is all quite confusing, we reject you request for change, buts hey… we made changes you requested.
Anyhow, good that news that new Grin users are not send anymore to scam pages.
A user contacted someone from CoinGecko, and they deleted the Telegram and Twitter links. I asked them to restore the Telegram link since it was correct and up-to-date. As mentioned above, the most important thing is that there are no more scam links.
It’s ok to not list a telegram channel, since there are multiple ones and AFAIK none has “official” status. people can find them on the community hub page at Grin CC
