Announcing the grin-wallet subteam

Wallet subteam creation

In keeping with our new fledgling governance process, I’m happy to get the process of creating the wallet subteam underway.

Responsibilities of the subteam are outlined in the RFC (and are still open to change,) but generally, a wallet subteam member will be assisting with the process of:

  • Reviewing wallet RFCs and deciding the future direction of wallet changes
  • Assisting in progressing the wallet in some form or another, be if through code, community outreach or otherwise (there are many avenues here)

Bootstrapping

The first order of business is to define the structure of the subteam and sort out fundamental questions like ‘How is it organized?’ and most importantly ‘Who is eligible to be a member?’ These are purposefully being left as open questions here, with the hopes that the community will come to a consensus on the answers.

So for now, the (pre-bootstrapped) wallet subteam essentially consists of an open keybase channel. Everyone is free to join this channel to assist with the formation of the subteam and make their opinions known on how it should be structured. I encourage anyone who is interested in helping define the team or being a member of the subteam to join at this stage and help get the discussion going in the following keybase channel:

Keybase channel (open to all):

Disclaimer

(Please note that joining the keybase channel at this stage does not mean automatic membership in the subteam post-bootstrapping. The first task is to complete the community discussion defining the criteria, roles, responsibilities and expectations of a subteam member, and only after this is done will we have full clarity on the subteam’s composition.)
