Hyperinflation is a rapidly accelerating inflation [1]. Grin’s inflation rate at genesis was infinite (creating 60 Grin out of 0).
It’s been doing that ever since genesis, exactly like Bitcoin did in its first 4 years. Neither were ever hyperinflating.
The only difference is that Grin’s inflation rate is decreasing smoothly, like 1/n, while Bitcoin’s has some exponential bumps overlaid (2^-O(n)) to leave next-to-nothing for future generations to mine, and achieve a much higher wealth concentration on early adopters.
Grin is just a peer-to-peer currency. One (perhap the only one?!) that stays true to its ideals rather than serve as a way to make its creators rich.
There is no expectation of profit, and it’s not meant as an investment. Please don’t advertise it as one.
