Yes you need to keep the node running to full sync and make sure it is running when using your wallet.
Ok and how long would it eventually take?
Ran this for an hour it completed but the chain and header wasn’t the same. So I rebooted and ran again but now its stuck at 31%, will try again tomorrow.
