Anyone who has mined Grin for a while with G1 minis has usually experienced at least one PSU failure.
For anyone in the US/Canada I am now offering a service to build as many Mean Well industrial PSUs as you need with a 2yr guarantee on parts. I only use the highest quality parts like Legrand hospital grade 14awg pure copper cabling from wall to 14awg 2.5mm DC plug pure copper cables, Molex permaseal heat shrink crimps, and every PSU is tuned to 12V +/- 0.02V.
The LRS-350-12 model is perfect for powering 2x miners with plenty of headroom and the best value. These have active cooling via a 40mm fan and I’ve been using them for 8 months without issue. I also use an RSP-500-12 to power 4x miners without it even getting hot and handling a hard reboot fine.
I just completed 36 units for a friend of ours to power 72 G1 minis.
These were built to spec with cut to 1ft C14 cables with plug locks, I normally use the hospital cables for AC power.
Cost will vary based on availability of PSUs and number of units. I do not keep the PSUs or 0.5m-1m DC cables in stock so you are required to buy and ship those to me where I will assemble with the rest of the components.
Here are some more photos of one I put together today and can sell. If you need more the LRS-350-12 is $28 on Amazon and the DC 2.5mm plug cables & light are only $4 and $7 each on aliexpress, I have the rest of the parts in stock.
With 2x miners and 3x voltage supplies I like to use a 12V RGB boat spotlight to take up the extra outlets. I do need to warn that the pretty lights attract cats like a moth to flame.
Im just rebuilding my minis to a big pineapple and because i see all using those cheaper power supplys, i decided to use them too.
But im facing the problem that they always have short cut-offs in the power, because the small yellow bulp switches off for a milisecond. That also causes my machines to reboot all the time..
I use 50A and some 40A supplys to power max 3 units per supply.
Does that interupt come from a underVoltage? or does it depend on the Hz frequenz? Power in Jamaica not very stable sadly…thinking about to add some APCs in front of the power supply… but before i spend lot of money for that…i wanted to ask if somebody facing same problems with those supplys…
I could see it being low-grade capacitors causing issues in the PSU maybe, but also like you said it’s probably power sags and low quality power delivery. I find the APC SUA750 750VA UPS works great for stabilizing power for up to 4 miners. They are rated for 500W I believe and never complain about too much load with 4 G1 minis. Perfect for pairing with one of the Mean Well RSP-500-12 PSUs that will power 4 G1 minis with zero issues.
I also use Middle Atlantic RLNK PDUs since they have switching outlets and power sequencing built in.
