For those of you with a few - what’s your failure rate? How reliable are these devices?
if it’s about the power adapter failure, it could be 20%. If it’s about the board, i could say it’s immortal.
currently sold out at iPollo. But yeah they are pretty reliable, never had problems so far with any of my devices.
How do you replace a psu if it breaks?
Buy a Mean Well LRS-350-12 which can power 2 miners. If you’re not well equipped to build one I offer it a service with 45+ built so far and they are all happily humming along now.
Here is how they look (with an RGB lamp attached):
off topic but how many grin coins you getting from a G1 Mini per day?
At the moment, yield is 24.5 ツ / mini / day.
This is from my currently active 89x G1-mini + 1x G1, so 129x mini hash equivalent.
I have 3x mini offline thanks to ded power supplies (the fanless brick kind). Can’t make a trip to that location until next weekend to replace. And 3x mini in transit that I recently purchased. New plan is to stop at 99x mini, so still in the market for another 4 if anyone is selling.
I’d say failure rate for fanless brick PSU = 100%, given enough time (days to years), which is why I’m converting over to industrial PSU w/ fan for longevity (closer to immortal, but you can inadvertently kill by not being mindful of the voltage switch). For 4x internal fans of the mini, they too will all fail given enough time, user replaceable. Control board, rare, but those fail and are DYI repairable through replacement too, I keep a few on hand just in case. Board with mining chip never seems to fail yet (only one DoA from my XP that smoked at initial launch deployment, was replaced under RMA through iPollo (purchased by ツ payment to iPollo), and that could have just been the control board that fried).
Yeah, sidebar. I think the breakeven value for the g1 mini on the grin website is broken - 12 cents sounds high to me
That is quite a nice yield actually. If my G1 mini’s were not broken, I would switch them on again.
around 22-25 grin per day, the network rate at the moment is reducing.
Reliability is related to the use environment, my machine is on the first floor, the weather in southern China is humid, and the wet weather makes many machines break
