RTX 2080TI on AMD Phenom II without AVX

Hi,

I had to build grin-miner without the mean plugins on Linux, because of the old CPU that don’t support the AVX instructions. After an hour the miner showed a GPS of 0.0017 (AMD Phenom II x4 @ 2ghz 4GB DDR2).

Make it sense to put a RTX 2080 Ti into this computer? Is CUDA without AVX possible and how fast will it run?

Thank you for your help.

My configuration:

  • the Bminer
  • AMD Athlon™ II X2 255 Processor
  • GTX 1070
  • Slackware Linux
  • latest Cuda and Nvidia binary driver.

Alternative is the Grin Gold Miner. It runs very well on this old system.

Result is 4.24 G/s and CPU load 0.2%. Rust and grin are not installed! Better use the Bminer, grin miner for Nvidia can’t be compiled on old cpus.

Both Bminer and GrinGoldMiner are for the Cuckaroo29.
*** I don’t know about 2080Ti and C31!

I have compiled grin-miner 1.02 without avx by disabling the option in the compile script.

Without tuning I get on AMD Phenom II @ 2.4ghz, 4GB DDR2 and RTX 2070 @ 125 Watt: 3.55 GPS
