Not long time ago, I thought Grin is simple so homepage can keep it like this for years.
However, after considering about other perspectives, I think we’d better having a new homepage, not trying to make things complicated but we need to attract new kids on the block, as we’re here because we believe the goodness of grin and it should be more popular, attractive, got attention from new comers. We need to believe in next generation when community is smaller through years.
That’s why I asked my Claude to rebuild a homepage, initially I intended to use it for my own site grin.money, but better to offer it to council if someone interests (of course no cost). We can adapt/change content based on your need.
There are just 3 files html/css/js, lightweight and simple enough.
I like the added info and stuff (if all of it is actually real and accurate), but I think the aesthetic is too “epic haxxorz”. Not that the current website isn’t a bit cheeseball too with the “wE aRe aNonYmOus” vibe…
The issue might be from the early days of defining Grin as the peak of privacy tech. I think time has shown though that Grin isn’t the peak of privacy, it’s just a bunch of good ideas rolled into one ultra simple core. Maybe you could tell it to derive Grin’s “identity” from a combination of the no list and this post on simplicity?
Maybe even give it one of these as a starting point too.
Good feedback. I moved the no-list to under the What is Grin section as smaller text. And then I replaced that empty space with these scrolling names for Grin in other languages.
Are these even accurate? We could add more if we want.
Including these so anyone can hack on it too btw. I think there’s just a few issues I have still. Small screen language scroll overlap. And i’d potentially like a bit more use of the ocean blue accent.
Personally I do not think we need to change the homepage.
Just make your own website describing Grin and why you think it is great. Having more sources and more angles on why Grin is such a great project would be good.
