Hi everyone, I have been following Guling

Hi everyone, I have been following Guling since its listing until now, and I feel that OC and CC really have not paid anything for the community, and they are the biggest stumbling block to Guling’s growth. There are always countless reasons to refute it.

“Guling” is that Chinese for Grin?

I was not aware OC and CC were supposed to "pay the community":upside_down_face:. I do not see why either councils could ever be a stumbling block for adoption. It is not like members from either councils can block anyone from adopting, developing or basically stop anyone from doing anything with grin. That is the essence of decentralization, anyone is free to do whatever they want.

Transacting in Grin could be called Guling, cool!
As for the rest: now that BTC has appreciated, it would be a good idea (as payouts are in fiat terms), to put funds to work maybe more aggressively.

So GRIN is called Guling in China? That’s interesting. I agree with you regarding lack of interest from public, but that shouldn’t be the priority. Continuous development and adding new features should be.

GRIN needs some proper exchange to trade it. TradeOgre is not cutting it.

Do you have suggestions for exchanges that would fit the bill @cryptopunk?
I though Kraken might be a good choice. If I remember @Cobragrin submitted a request but as we know those request can take forever it at all leading to a response.
I do not think Kraken would list Grin as project based on its profitability in trading, but they explicitly say on their website that they judge based on “merit”, which might mean they also take into consideration other factors. I mean listing grin on any exchange would improve their reputation and esteem since they are listing one of the purest cypher-punk projects in existence. The problem is that for an exchange to list grin, the implementation needs to be done right[ using slate-packs], otherwise an exchange might end up with many support tickets.

Kraken would be perfect. It’s one of the major exchanges and Monero is listed there as well. Listing there should be the the top priority. The problem is they want to load up on supply first and GRIN has a problem with liquidity.

On the one hand people complain there is little liquidity, on the other hand, that is exactly a good sign. Very few are willing to part with their grin at the current prices. Most people accumulate except some miners.
So for Kraken or other interested exchange it would also make sense to slowly accumulation and then go for public listing which would likely lead to them selling their supply for a good price paying back the initial investment. The only difference with most coins is that the accumulation cannot be done too fast or it will be noticed and push the price up. Apart form that I do not think grin is any different from most projects except for a bit of custom code to deal with interactivity (which is what websites are for, interacting with the users). Besides, how much profit do they need? There is a trading volume of around 35k/day. Over the span of a 1-2 month they can easily accumulate 0.5 million $ in grin, then go public with listing and over the span of the coming half year sell it with a lot of profit. I do not think Grin is that much more difficult except that there are other projects which might be even more profitable to list.

Maybe I am too optimistic, but I still believe there are still many companies in the crypto space that do judge projects based on their merits, and not only go for maximizing their own profits and filling their bags. Besides, supporting good projects and earning money does not have to be conflicting goals.

I have a gut feeling Kraken listing is actually coming.

It could very well be. If there is any major exchange left who does it fair share of supporting real crypto projects and who does care about more than filling their bags, it would be Kraken IMO.

You got a point. Someone is silently accumulating all those coins, I mean there are nearly 200M of them and less than 1M is on TradeOgre orderbook. It would be at 1 sat long time ago if no one was buying it.

God damn it. I feel something big is coming, I just can’t shake this feeling off.

Perhaps some change is coming. I do think Grin’s price will be relatively stable in the coming years, but that might include some significant pumps, and perhaps an higher average price than we see today.
I have been accumulating myself over the past month. Quite challenging due to the low volume since you need to create smaller orders, and only new ones when they got filled.

A DEX would make it more anti-fragile. Bisq 1 is dead. Haveno would be nice [Crypto] Add Grin · Issue #82 · haveno-dex/listing · GitHub

Interesting point being shown here. Lower liquidity has a stabilizing effect. Higher liquidity leads to drastic swings and market manipulation

Never heard about Haveno before, is it good?

They seem solid to me. It’s a basic order book style but it seems to actually work.

They post openly about volume and adoption on X x.com

I researched it a little. It’s part of Monero ecosystem and from what I know, they don’t like us.

CEX is a necessary evil.

The mentally ill people scream the loudest. Plenty of Monero people align perfectly with Grin. We should continue to be magnanimous and collaborative. Don’t feed into the deranged machinations of Monero maximalists.

We already have CEX. The problem is that we have no leverage with CEX. No reason that they would want to include Grin. At least with a DEX, it’s usually driven by idealism.
