This exchange can be good liquidity provider for the future if will have adoption.
Can be extended to work with CBDCs later (also must have).
Codename GriX (Grin eXchange).
I don’t think CC should be launching/ hosting an exchange, but could fund the open source development of a community based project.
While we want to maintain a high standard of integrity, we also recognize that some ICO scammers are eager to join any platform. So, we’ve devised a brilliant solution: we’ll allow scammers to list their ICO tokens on our exchange by charging them one Grin Day. This way, we collect Grins for our community fund.
You proposed to use the fees from the listing as a community fund, but the problem is that Grin has not yet implemented the multi-signature feature, so in that case, security is not guaranteed. Therefore, the important task now is to implement the multi-signature feature first.
Has this even been spec’d yet? I heard mention of using a threshold FROST scheme, but no concrete details
How do you get that last part? The “to pay for service/item Z”? That is the first time I have heard of that ability regarding interactive transactions.
You include memo in the payment proof (early payment proofs rfc describes that but it’s not implemented yet)
Considering that Grin doesn’t allow this kind of arbitrary data on the blockchain, I suppose that the memo part is transferred by means of a secondary network/protocol?
I guess I have to read the RFC
Grindex.mw - trade Grin/BTC Grin/Tether
If we work together on this project I am in. Could help with techs like node.js react.js API knowledge.
We would have to provide initial liquidity like some BTC/Tether and ofc Grin coins.
Memo will be included in a slatepack message. Back on topic, i think integration to an existing dex would be simpler since you avoid maintenance etc
Love the enthusiasm behind the idea of a Grin Exchange! It’s awesome to see initiatives tailored for privacy enthusiasts like us. The concept of a privacy-focused exchange with no KYC requirements sounds like a dream come true. And the exclusive crypto-to-Grin pairs add a unique touch.
Is some sort of DEX even possible to create and maintain?
A payment website would also be useful, where Grin can be used similar to XRP. People just want to send funds to someone else, using their preferred currency ie using paypal, credit card etc. It can start simple thought with payments sent in BTC and Doge for example. Grin would be the medium in which the fund is transferred. This takes out the crypto casino aspect of exchanges.
However I see this payment website being treated as a money laundering/ crypto tumbler sort of thing by authorities and criminals alike. Maybe it doesn’t have to be completely private, users can sign up to use the website by providing their name, email, paypal account, credit card number etc. (but hopefuly not KYC id verification) The world can find out that Grin has other use cases apart from privacy such as scalability, security and speed.
Everyone is free to build what they want. Personally I would prefer something like a simple payment plugin for webshops to use Grin directly for payments without KYC or regulatory issues.
The question remains though who would use it? The most logical thing would be someone made the plugin for their own websites and then made the code open-source as a contribution to the project. Like a natural evolution of the project based on individual contributions.
