Turn off privacy and keep Cut-through

Hello,

could be possible turn off all privacy stuff (blinding factor, etc) and use grin code like an Bitcoin that can shrink?

Or the blinding factor has more utility than just blinding and cannot be removed (or set to some default value (1?) for instance)?

The blinding factor is both used to hide the amount and to prove ownership of the coins (as opposed to sending to an address). If you remove the blinding factor you need something else (e.g. addresses), and cut-through will no longer work.
