Does anyone have the entire pricing data of Grin over its entire 7 year history? Preferably USD but BTC is fine
Maybe try Coingecko API, a simple script should do the job
I thought it might be useful to create two scripts,
-
A python script to download all Goingecko price data
-
A python script for an interactively grin price Dashboard in the browser.
Unfortunately the CoinGecko API informed me that downloading historic price and volume information from more than 365 days ago requires a license.
To be more precise it requires a CoinGecko Pro license of 103.2$/month, far beyond my financial means
.
If I understand it correctly, after your downloaded the data, it is free to use. Perhaps if someone has such a “Analyst license he or she can download and share this data. If we have such a data dump anyone can run the script ones a year to update the price historic data since anyone is free to download the last 365 days. I wrote the download script in such a way that it only downloads missing information to avoid unnecessary burdening of the CoinGecko API.
@coingecko Is it Ok with you to make such a price/volume backup and share it on Github?
It would only be for Grin price information not for other projects so I doubt it will much hurt your business. Naturally the tool will reference CoinGecko on github as is defined in the terms of use.
I made some quick AI scripts for graphing, at the moment your probably better of just using Coingecko graphs:
After carefully reading the Terms of use, It looks like sharing Coingecko data is actually not permitted:
6 Except as expressly permitted hereunder this API Terms, you are not allowed to duplicate, reproduce, copy, store, derive from or translate any Data, API Documentation, or any information expressed by the Data (including but not limited to hashed or transferred data).
I am starting to think there might not be Open Source for Grin price data ![]()
The only other price data source I am aware of for Grin is Grin (GRIN) Price, Market Cap, Chart & Info | Coinpaprika
They also require a license but I did not (yet) find restrictions on sharing and cashing of data.
If you fetch this URL you can get the entire price history in JSON (without the constraint of the API rules):
