Based on the assumption that they really lost 50K Grin and on their volume. Most of the time the volume was much lower than it is today. It only got higher after other exchanges did not implement slatepacks and TO was the only exchange where miners could actually sell Grin. Trading fees are low. I can’t give exact numbers, but I think that 25K USD may very well eat up all the money that they made with Grin so far.
I do not know their margins, but it could indeed be a significant loss to them. I really do wonder though if people will not simply give back wrongly received BTC, I would. So my expectation is that if they would kindly request this (not demand or anything), they probably would receive back 50% of their losses.
And in addition, we as community can step up to fill the gap.
If it hasn’t happened until now, I think it is really really unlikely.
I assume the attacker withdrew from the TO and imo it’s likely that he withdrew above 40k grin. If that’s true then even if all the other people return their coins to TO they only get 10k grin back (i would have returned it but i don’t expect the majority to). I don’t see the community reaching 50k since the community is very small, so setting an unrealistic goal is worse than having no goal imo. It’s also possible that the TO grin holders get screwed in the end and not the exchange - if you have 10k grin on the exchange can you actually withdraw them all? Can all users withdraw all of their grin? Usually exchanges cover the attack costs so that they keep their users, but it’s possible that smaller exchanges act differently. I don’t expect that to be the case with TO but it’s possible

It is very well possibl, only TO can give proof or explenations of their number of 50k Grin.
However, considering TO normally has about 30k$ in Grin exchanged in a day (roughly 60k Grin), it could very well be they were not targeted at all. Maybe the attacker assumed the attack would go unnoticed. Again, it would be really nice if TO could provide some more information about how they lost their 50k Grin,something like list or ranked users by value (of course without the real user names or email adresses, just the numbers).
And why Tradeogre would do this since it doesn’t matter anymore, he won’t be compensated ?

How do you know TO is genuine and cares about its users? Do you think the one who donated btc would want us to use it on helping out an exchange who lost money due to a bug? I’m not saying TO is bad, i just want to point out that there’s no need to act like you know what’s the correct decision in this situation and flame people who think differently. Imo it’s important to understand why TO is the only exchange to integrate grin and it’s because of the decision of the other exchanges not to support it. If there were 10 such exchanges, none of them would be “the only one” so either you pay to all of them or none. And all of them have made the same effort as TO did in this case, that is taking the time to integrate grin. Seems pretty easy to see that if we fund TO we should also fund all those 10, otherwise funding actions are not consistent and predictable based on the history. If the community feels they want to help it then that’s great but the coin should imo not be funding the exchanges. Exchanges are well aware that such bugs can occur, it’s not like they’re not aware of the possibility of an inflation bug

Sorry for calling you out on this mistake and I’m very happy to see that you are a self-critical person. Don’t worry about it, everyone makes such mistakes, i made one now and not long ago i made a similar one which i also regret 
I understand your fear and i also don’t want TO to delist grin since miners need to somehow convert money to fiat. I just hope they remain this badass non-kyc exchange who cares about the legit projects

Yes for better Grin.
We don’t need swap BTC or all altcoins to Grin, ETH to Grin and vice versa. What we need just exchange or swap the mighty USDT or USDC to Grin. For Fiat Gateway I could use my Local Exchange. Thats All for now.
