I got wrecked on Tradeogre

Oh man lol.

For so many years I was disciplined and always made sure to withdraw right away.

Earlier this year I had some trouble with my ironbelly and my node at home so I thought hey Tradeogre has been there for 6 years now, I’ll leave this until next month.

Life got busy and I went to check the price on Tradeogre last night…

I’ll be ok it was not too serious of an amount for me in dollar terms. But if grin ever takes off in the future that’s gonna sting lol.

Upon seizure of websites or money, do these government agencies work to give funds back to customers or do they just keep it for themselves?

@Trinitron Your not alone, 90% of My grin was/is on Tradeogre, my complete income of 2024.
The authorities better not try to steal it or I will have to invade Canada before Trump does

I’m glad we can commiserate!

The most annoying part for me is that I wouldn’t even have TO to buy back in what I lost lol. I really don’t want to have to try to KYC at Gate.

…i still had some USDT to buy grin when it would dip,…only I stored that USDT on TO🤦‍♂️.

TO shutdown has complete destroyed my game plan for stocking grin. Anyhow, it is what is. If we would have BTC/grin atomic swap, such pains would be more easily avoided.

You’re not just getting wrecked by TradeOgre going down. Oh no, you’re also feeling the consequences of how this project has been managed for years now. The lack of redundancy, the refusal to register on mainstream exchanges and above all the passive, reactive leadership have all led us here.

Yes, Grin has no central authority, that’s part of its appeal for the better or worse, but community-driven doesn’t mean leaderless or visionless. Without real exposure or access on functioning exchanges, this project is set to die a quiet death.

Frankly, I wouldn’t be surprised if what’s left of the funding ends in some kind of quiet exit scam. Those who consistently resisted onboarding to other exchanges bear direct responsibility for where we are now.

Well said @Rust ! I agree :100:

I disagree this statement, if the key owners wanted to scam, they already scammed. I think nowadays, the people are no more interested in privacy coins just because they’re busy with other quick money scheme. Let’s see.

Actually, privacy coins are performing very well in the market lately. Not that I have the illusion that this has anything to do with real adoption, it is just market manipulation. If you pump and then dump something that is under-valuated (like most privacy coins out there), market manipulators can extract money from regular users. On the plus side, maybe 1 in 10 who jumps on privacy coins because of the price increase might actually recognize Grin for what it is, a rare idealistic privacy project worth having a share in.

Can someone make a meme about Grin gold parachutes pretty please . I wanted to make some memes myself but I am too busy fixing bugs and enhancing grin. Development take priority over making fun memes unfortunately.

Nobody ever resisted a legitimate exchange listing from what I saw. Scam pay for listing schemes were resisted of course.

@Rust appears with his usual doom and gloom talk when a dump of the grin price is needed. Can you bet on the Grin price or short it somewhere? I have always wonder how people make money out of sentiment manipulation of grin .
Indeed, if @Rust truly though Grin was dead, he would not have visited 112 days since he joined the forum in 2021  . Mmmm, @Rust is such a dedicated Grin supporter, his love for Grin must run deep :hugs: :yellow_heart:

The only way to “short” grin is instead of buy low sell high, you first sell high then buy low, so your selling with the intent to buy back lower.

In my experience anyone who thinks they can predict the charts always gets burned, best to play it so you’re good regardless of which way the market turns. For example: You might sell 1/3 of your bag at a high, so if it goes down you can buy back lower, but if it goes up you still have more to sell.

With an attitude like yours, it’s no surprise this project has failed. Instead of addressing the substance of the criticism, you default to sarcasm, assumptions, and personal jabs which perfectly illustrates the culture that brought Grin to this point.

My presence here has nothing to do with “love” for Grin. I’m here to highlight the failures that many of you refused to confront, year after year, until reality finally caught up. Ignoring problems, silencing dissent, and mocking critics hasn’t saved this project. It killed it.

If you had shown even half the effort toward exchange redundancy, adoption, or leadership as you put into dismissing valid concerns, Grin wouldn’t be in this position today.

And you got the date wrong…

Ahh, so you have more accounts? You might have been around longer. This account was created on August 9 2021, it is public data.

If you did not care about this project you would simply not be here spending time and energy. Whether you are here out of love, fear, hate, greed or obsession - you care, that is for sure.
