US Department of Commerce just released their new post-quantum cryptography standards.
The cryptography used in Bitcoin (ECDSA) is being deprecated by 2030. 5 year is not much.
Grin has switch commitments, but really prepared for this? What will be the effects?
How will average Grin user & ecosystem be prepared? Do we need to inform community from now on?
To anyone who is “fearing” quantum computing, I highly recommend to go through these slides, they are very educative and enlightening. Some slides are technical, just skip them unless you are interested in the nitty gritty. These slides are 100% ensured to dispel any illusions about quantum computing being even remotely a treat to crypto projects, whether that is Grin, Bitcoin or anything else:
We all fear what we do not understand. Therefore, to become fearless, we simply have to educate ourselves.

“Complexity is the enemy of security”
The simplicity of Grin is attractive for exactly this reason. (Not that it is simple to understand the math… but it is well known/proven math).
