Cake Wallet Integration

I noticed that Cake wallet is well known by the Monero community and we all know the Monero community is a privacy focused community. Cake wallet supports a limited number of coins and has some priority for privacy (e.g. native tor integration). It also notably has some non-private coins so it is not exclusive to privacy focus.

I wonder if the Counsel might consider a bounty (not to me… a call for developer bounty) to

  1. Develop code to add grin integration into the open source cake wallet
  2. Follow up with Cake wallet to get grin added to the official cake release

There is value to being in such a wallet of course (though we already have grim thanks to @ardocrat), but a core value of this is that it gets grin increased/repeated exposure to a large privacy focused continuity.

Cake wallet does support litecoin’s MWEB privacy network so perhaps some details of MW integration might have existing open source cake code?

Two points of clarification.

  1. I have no affiliation with cake wallet
  2. I am not suggesting we consider paying cake wallet. It would be for a developer who would fork the cake wallet code and integrate grin, and then pull request for integration into cake wallet. (maybe some pre-discussion is needed to affirm cake would consider such a pull request).

Just a thought.

they do have a history of experimenting with new stuff like Bitcoin Silent Payments etc.

We need it. With cakewallet integration we would be on a rocket ship.

Doing this would require dealing with Vik, and he is very disingenuous and can be easily shown to be motivated by money.

If they did it without us asking that’d be cool, but I wouldn’t recommend anyone put their funds towards it.

I think sethforprivacy is a Monero maxi and not a fan of Grin based on conversations I’ve had with him in the past but that was some time ago.

No, that dude often promoted crap like Dero. Cake wallet team is super non-maximalist. They support tons of tokens in the wallet now, but mostly just privacy oriented ones.

That’s refreshing to see! Thanks for sharing.

If he’s critical, then he will surely see the appeal of a project as clean as Grin. I mentioned it a few times to him recently (in a context that makes sense) but got no reply.
