the system has to cover edge cases otherwise it’s better to avoid it. I’m not sure what’s so funny about the coma example, it’s a realistic one and i’ve already seen it be used by the btc dev. What you’re describing is something similar to what ergo has, they call it storage rent (but the way they do it doesn’t provide enough coins to replace mining rewards, just to bring lost coins back in circulation).
