When Satoshi Grinned

Damn …

I been in crypto too long, and looking around the landscape as it stands today I shudder. This bitcoin revolution has not panned out as I expected, so much so Bitcoin has been completely captured by those same institutions it was supposed to subvert. I dunno if Satoshi would agree, but he bowed out of the conversation many years ago - so we’re on our own now.

This thing we call Grin could be the very last chance to grab at that promise those first few years of the crypto cypherpunk dream bestowed on our fertile minds. Grin, and only Grin, has that vibe right now and so I sure as heck hope that we got some early bitcoiner minds in our midst.

We ain’t selling out the Satoshi dream any more than we selling our coins, even if it takes an evil wizard to make good on his gift; the only immutable database to have ever existed.

I do not know where got you that grin would involve “an evil wizard”, but even if it did, it does not really matter. Grin = Grin, its merits are based on its design, not who were involved in its design or implementation.
After years of being in the crypto space, nothing has changed. Bitcoin was the first good attempt at digital cash, but only achieved being a good store of value. Grin is the best new iteration of digital cash. Although Grin’s development might be slow, the most important thing is that the project stayed true to its identity and goals.

How is it a good store of value if a few decades from now, the security budget is mostly gone and not replaced by a constant backlog of high fee paying txs, inviting 51% attacks?

True, being a good store of value for Bitcoin is not even true on the long run.
I do not see much of a way out for Bitcoin since I doubt they wil go for tail emission.
