Toxic Grin Funds

Sure, that is possible. See this post on Atomic Swap.

The ever elusive atomic swap. Whats the current status?

It requires a senior cryptographer and developer to make it into reality, but it is certainly possible.

Thank you. I hope so.

This one is great because it takes 7 years to replicate it:) And it’s impossible to catch Grin if it keeps ticking forward.

most people don’t understand the importance of time-based monetary policy, it’s an extraordinary invention for Grin.

In my view, the easier it is for people to accumulate Grin, the more naturally the project will attract new participants. From experience, broader accessibility through better exchanges and OTC markets would likely draw in developers and entrepreneurs capable of building elegant software around Grin without depending on governance or funding applications.

Bitcoin grew in a similar way: its early accessibility allowed a wave of independent builders and innovators to emerge, which accelerated its development. Grin could benefit from that same dynamic if acquiring it were easier.

Ya man, this is totally true but “grin has a policy to never pay for listings” lol just one of their many excuses to avoid spending their btc donations

I’m not advocating for paying for exchange listings, as I don’t believe they’re necessary atm. There are better ways to improve trading and OTC accessibility. However, there seems to be a clear disconnect between the miners in the project and the broader community.

A few days ago, I made a thread expressing interest in purchasing a large amount of Grin (around one month’s worth of emissions), yet I received no meaningful responses or leads to miners or long-term holders. I can’t even find reliable information on where to purchase ASIC miners for the project.

We shouldn’t mistake ongoing inflation from emissions as genuine distribution. There are likely fewer holders of Grin today than there were years ago.

Acquiring Grin through purchase or mining should not be this difficult. Without easier access and better distribution methods, it will be hard to attract new participants.

@joebig Finding miners is a different question from buying it directly:

Ipollo sells G1 36 Graphs per second and G1 Mini 1.2 Graphs per second. G1 sold out I think. You can also buy them second hand.

Regarding miners directly selling Grin, I think not many are interested and many are in different places, e.g. Chinese chat groups.

A lot of information on grin can be found here

Ya thats an extremely good point. the early adopters still plan to dump on the public just like any premine.

IPollo is basically the only ASICS available. It is technically possible to mine grin with gpu it’s just not very efficient.

That makes no sence. If anything, most miners dumped their innitial grin always instantly on the market since holding grin in the early years means getting a lower price since the price always went down. Perhaps that is changing now with some people accumulating grin and miners might not insta dump their grin on the market.

Exactly, these “some people” are the people who refuse to pay to promote grin while they fill their own bags. Only once their bags are full then they’ll say “sure let’s pay for listing and promotion now” lol

Everyone is free to sell or accumulate grin, to contribute or not contribute. There are no strings attached to owning grin, or any other asset or coin for that matter.

If you own Tesla stocks, does that mean you have to start paying for Tesla commercials, or work in their factory to make cars?

come or leave as your will; hold on or give up as your will, that’s the essence of open networks

If you are on the Tesla council with millions of dollars of donations then yes.

Grin ++ mobile wallet doesn’t work & is down.

Can someone post a verifiable $GRIN Wallet on X Grin community so I can usher newcomers there? Appreciate your support.

@syntaxjak Since this is a community with multiple perspectives, I would like to give my own. I personally do not want the Grin fund to be converted to Grin this year because I think holding in BTC has been (and is) a good investment decision for the long term capital accumulation within the Grin Community.

HOWEVER - I am extremely appreciative of you calling out the RISK of the Grin council pocketing the millions in BTC in an exit scam. The Grin community benefits from people like you @syntaxjak speaking plainly and holding others accountable.

At some point, the Grin fund should be converted to Grin, and the community will have benefited from you encouraging that transition.

How about the grin community creates an entirely separate pre-funding system paid in Grin for well defined development work? Even if it is as small as 100 Grin per hour worth of work, that may lead to more structure within the community to organically grow.

It’s not possible to create Grin fund without Multisig. Discussion is here Funding Proposal: Grin MultiSig
