I was thinking about Slatepack addresses in comparison to Bitcoin Silent Payments addresses. It seems like the SP address has more privacy, ironically. I could be wrong on this btw. Correct me if I’m wrong.
Is there a solution for Grin static addresses (something you can give someone so they always know how to pay you remotely) that also have good privacy?
Silent Payment addresses are each time newly generated (at least that is how you should use them). If you would use Grin++'s new slate-pack address function, you would also avoid identification by address reuse. It is important to note that a grin slate-pack address is a public key and tor addresses used for communication between wallets and as such not comparable to an on-chain address like a silent payment address.
What is more important is that grin has a) no on-chain addresses to begin, b) no visible amounts, c) aggregation of transactions before publishing on the block and c) all transactions have this high level of privacy.
Silent Payments are really awesome, but if grin would have as many transactions happening as Bitcoin, grin’s regular transactions would provide a higher level of privacy than Bitcoin Silent Payment address transactions.
