Ethereum simplifying Layer 1

In particular, I find things like this interesting:

A basic implementation of 3-slot finality can be made in about 200 lines of code. Unlike Gasper, 3-slot finality also has near-optimal security properties.

I gotta cheer them on. Finally, people are talking about simplicity as a core value.

One of the best things about Bitcoin is how beautifully simple the protocol is:

Wait till he learns about Grin…

This post will describe how Ethereum 5 years from now can become close to as simple as Bitcoin .

Unfortunately you cannot take away complexity from a consensus protocol when the entire tx history must remain verifiable from genesis. Ah, I see that Vitalik considers historical validation rules not to be a part of consensus.

Saw this article too and also made me think of Grin’s code simplicity, which should win the code simplicity contest among all existing crypto blockchains (correct me if I’m wrong). Agree with longevity being tied to simplicity.

Then there’s this news from today. Govs have banned bullion ownership, China banned crypto ownership/mining/trading. Perhaps this won’t hinder the people’s choice to choose liberty over tyranny, an effective ban requires compliance after all.

First CZ mentioned Bitcoin is not Gold, now this.

Finally he learned about Grin.

Vitalik must be cypherpunk

Grin is true Sigma then.

But MimbleWimble is GDPR compliant from another side, so our tech can be more attractive.

Privacy on network level is also important (next big step, hopefully Grin++ will also implement, @davidtavarez mentioned once).

The simplicity of the system is easy to last, and the complexity of the system is easy to make mistakes
Simplicity is easy to understand, and simplicity allows more people to participate
