A warning about the TradeOgre exchange

I’ve used Tradeogre to trade grin for quite some time and found the experience to be good overall. A couple of years ago I decided to trade another crypto (Kaspa) which also worked fine. I did notice though that it was then delisted from Tradeogre and I found some Reddit posts mentioning some technical issues that they were experiencing. Then last month, when wanting to sell some, I checked Tradeogre and found that it had been relisted and that there was some trading volume. So I deposited the coins and tried to trade but continuously got an order failed message

I then tried to withdraw my balance back to my wallet which was also met with an error message

I then contacted them on their X support channel where I used to get prompt responses but I haven’t had any response for two weeks.

I then went back to Reddit and found that I wasn’t alone and that there were others with the same problem. WARNING TradeOgre is a scam

It seems that TradeOgre is still operating other cryptos but I personally will not be using them for anything and I’d advise people to be careful. We know the inherent risk of CEXs but there does need to be basic trust.

Those problems are specific for Kaspa, read here the full drama:
-A Factual Account of the Kaspa Fraud Scheme

The problems most likely has to do with all the inherent problems and drama around the Kaspa project and and not a problem with Trade Ogre. The Kaspa community itself even asked for delisting of Kaspa.
Old funds missing have to do with an attack on the project. They tried to cover up where miners stole funds from early investors, see the article.

Thanks for sharing that. I agree that the Kaspa project looks to have some serious problems. That said, the Tradeogre team are still accepting Kaspa deposits and are ignoring customers which is not acceptable. Kaspa is still being traded on other exchanges such as Kraken who don’t appear to have any issues.
