New Nostr competition!

Looks promising! Especially since they could learn from what Nostr was doing ahead of time

Chat app tutorial: Build a Chat App | TBD

The way they define protocols for apps is amazing. Protocols | TBD This kind of structure is sorely lacking in Nostr

For those above the law, it’s legal
I am deeply immersed in the intricacies of the modern financial system.

States and multinational companies are scams, only on a titanic scale

Just confirmed that protocols are intended to be for app interoperability.

This means that we could define a Grin Slatepack protocol and multiple wallets could use it.

Revisiting Reticulum, I see there’s a new chat app that makes things easier to use (for me, since I’m on Windows): GitHub - liamcottle/reticulum-meshchat: A simple mesh network communications app powered by the Reticulum Network Stack.

Iroh might be the ideal solution for this: https://www.iroh.computer/

Delta Chat uses it for their P2P connections Delta Chat introduces realtime Peer-to-Peer networking - Delta Chat

Iroh doesn’t solve this inherently because it requires peers to be online at the same time, defeating the purpose of slatepacks to begin with.

So I’m leaning back towards Nostr (or maybe another protocol like SimpleX if it is even possible to build on top of that network). I like that users could also pay Nostr relays in Grin as well.

Beating this drum again. I hate the idea of marketing Grin when we don’t have a fully cross-platform wallet experience yet.

For example, marketing to Harry Potter HBO Original Series fans makes great sense, but what are we inviting them to? The vast majority of them use iOS, for which we have no wallet.

But if there was a cross-platform wallet with a familiar type of experience that they’re used to (cash app, venmo, etc), they could have fun sending money to and fro comfortably.

When you recommend something, you’re attaching your name to it. I don’t feel comfortable recommending Grin to family and friends for example because it’s just not at that bare minimum standard yet. Everyone I know uses iOS.

TL;DR - We need an iOS wallet at the very least.

I know your feeling~~
is there used to be a iOS wallet call iron belly?
because grin is low price, peopel dont pay attention to it ,and cross-platform wallet (cash app, venmo, etc)dont support it,if one day grin price is high,I think cross-platform wallet would add grin, just like they add bitcoin.
if there is not such day, what to say.

Yes, there was. Now there is Grim wallet https://gri.mw/ But no iOS yet on that.

Oh this thread isn’t about cash app integrating Grin. It’s just about a Grin wallet that emulates the same user experience.

Sorry, I need to take more spare time, current problem with iOS is text input, it needs some time to implement soft keyboard at GUI, I am working at countryside last weeks, will come back soon, will put 1st focus on iOS.

Ironbelly still works on iOS:

@ardocrat Thank you for all your effort on Grim.

In my opinion, before we can build the real cash app, we must fix the sync issue (when PIBD usually got stuck) when (new) user first time uses the node/wallet.
It’s really frustrated to restart nodes several time for pruned node sync with such long time.

I fully agree, stable fast syncing works is a basic requirement for anything. At the moment it is hard to brag about grin:

“look we have such minimal small blockchain, so much better than Bitcoin!..only our sync speed is 10-100x slower..o and expect to restart your node manually mutiple times to download those few GB’s”

any solution in progress? should we create a bounty of BTC to fix it permanently? it’s the core basic function.

Funny: Apple doesn't believe the iPhone will last another decade

1-month debug of p2p server was complete, bugs were found, need to take time to fix them, we just have lack of manpower to do it fast, its all volunteering work.

I completely understand, and I believe the community also understands. Do your job well, live your life well, If then have free time and energy ,just help with the Grin Project

only because everything is moving to AI assistants controlled with voice commands

We have the money to reward people very well

Money is Grin, we have no multisig to create fund from GRIN, lets create such bounty, all we need is to finish work (Multisignature Outputs by GeneFerneau ¡ Pull Request #85 ¡ mimblewimble/grin-rfcs ¡ GitHub) or start new one. We also need multisig for DEX integration (Beam, for example).

Hire some blockchain firm for this or post official vacancy. Holding BTC means being public/official/non-anon, some countries can start to take taxes from this, think about it.
