I believe that we need more exchanges and that we should actively take care of them. The community has already suggested a few:

Exchanges:

- Mexc (30k listing fee)

- Safetrade

- CoinEx (beam is listed)

- whiteBit

-…

Did I forget one?

How can we make progress here?

- mexc ,coinex already delisted Grin. I dont think they will list again without paying money which is against Grin ethos.
- Whitebit listed MWC coin but it uses ‘‘https’’ tx method and wants 600 confirmations, also restricts US/EU users as well.

I think that Grin was to be listed on big exchanges but the ship is sailed already.
Wallet and tx problems created a vicious cycle for low adoption \> less exchanges, pools \> less userbase \> less security + credibility, reputation \> less developers are involved \>less development.

Accepting the reason, why it happened and not going this route as community.

> We need exchanges

We could go about another way around this. If there’s enough of products and services that can be purchased directly using Grin, there will be no need for exchange, because Grin is the final coin to be used. Are there efforts to reach this?

This is off topic, but maybe something like Monezon (buy anything on Amazon with xmr and some other coins I think) [https://monezon.com/](https://monezon.com/)

And in terms of services, there has been discussion about using Grin to pay for Nostr relays, or even to use Grin for “zapping” content on Nostr (you can find several threads on this).

I pointed this out last year. The only way Grin can get adoption is through improving the UX of basic functionality.

> improving the UX of basic functionality

Cryptography involves big numbers, ranging from 256-bits to 2048-bits in length. There’s something that could help users to check if they have mistyped and where they have mistyped. I even started working on something to demonstrate that ([GitHub repository](https://github.com/fredericomba/correction-rectangles)), but not even an image to demonstrate was it is about was attached to the README.md file. If the digits of the large number were laid in a grid, there could be rows and columns of check digits for hinting the user if all is properly correctly typed.

It’s a simple project. Do you think it could be valuable in improving the user experience?

I’m not sure if that’s right for Grin or not. Mainly because since transactions are interactive, it kind of already saves you from sending to a bogus address.

So the main issue would be sending to the wrong person. In which case, I think an old fashioned contact list would be best? I’ll let others chime in on that

Grin adresses contain checksum bytes:

> [@Is this Grin Wallet URL Reachable?](https://forum.grin.mw/t/is-this-grin-wallet-url-reachable/7349/21):
>
> Awesome! Well, would you mind to share your code? I could try to fix it and then explain it here: If you’re familiar with python here’s another testing code: """ Key Generation Keys used in SlatepackAddresses are derived from a path from the master seed in a given wallet account. Currently the wallet uses separate derivation paths: one for the private bytes used for the blinding factor keys and one for the private bytes used to derive the ed25519 keys used to derive Tor onion addresses. ed25…

Slatepacks also contai checksum bytes, so no additional work is needed there.

Why not host a digital grin exchange market on the grin.mw forum? P2P trades only. It’s not that complicated. Then we can all sleep well knowing it will still be there tomorrow.

it is very user friendly and secure if you think other cryptos -sending coins to wrong adress or spamming your wallet.
Exchanges dont like a real decentralized private P2P currency under regulators but users will need it for real life usage anti censorship P2P feature.

I think the forum is not the place for P2P trading, although no one is stopping you from trading via private messages, on forum, Telegram or anywhere else. There used to be P2P trading via slatepack market, but it is offline now: [Slatepacks Market (relaunch)](https://forum.grin.mw/t/slatepacks-market-relaunch/9309)

Anyone can start a similar project, but the challenge is of-course guaranteeing that trade’s push through, dispute settlement etc. It can lead to a lot of drama. Therefore I do not think P2P trading should be facilitate on the Grin forum. Also I doubt it will attract many users. New users nearly always prefer the perceived “safety and convenience” of centralized exchanges.

So Grin is all decentralized and private and frankly all CEXs seem anathema to its ethos - an ethos which also includes (from what I gather) not paying for listings.

So off the top of my head I’m thinking (if these exist let me know):

1. wGrin / DEX / Uniswap (CC / OG could fund liquidity pool)
2. a Grin centric exchange on the darkweb (inc. physical goods)
