The Grin Governance Councils sole priority seems to be protecting the integrity of the donations. We instead need a **Grin Spending Committee** whose objective is to deploy all donations as quickly and as efficiently as possible! Which granted would not be an easy task considering there is over 6 million dollars worth of hoarded donation.

All in favour say I lol

i, and also i say the council spend 0.1 btc per month to make grin be the best it can be as electronic cash building for the decades to come, that would be at least 44 years just with what’s there now and the 0.1 value should only increase therefore making more and more possible with each use as time passes, say i or .1 if you agree

As a member of the grin spending committee, what would be the first thing that you would spend on and how much?

Right now we have an offer on the table that’s still good to have grin added to stack wallet (mobile wallet on iOS and android App Store), it uses slatepack and everything (maybe 10k I didn’t get a number), next I’d ask unstoppable wallet if they’re offer is still on the table (60k I think he said). After that I’d put out a big bounty (maybe 50k-100k) to add multisig capabilities to grin. After that I’d try and hire yeastplum back by offering him more than his current employer, or at least hire him to vet/interview potential devs for grin, possibly sending two members of the committee to a university with a really good coding program, like Berkeley university and approach the professor and ask to interview his top senior students for a dev position at grin. Or place hire ads on a job application website like indeed etc or and hire a recruiter. I’d also start a team for chatgpt api for the junior volunteer devs who already work on the project and pay them part time wages.

like I said, it would be extremely hard/impossible to deploy 6 million dollars on only development. So I’d ask the spending committee to vote if we should expand the uses for donation, if it was a yes, I’d get grin listed on 1 or two popular exchanges, maybe nonkyc etc, next I’d pay main stream crypto YouTubers to promote grin coin, and pay to promote any current YouTubers content who currently make grin videos (me).

after all this it still would barely make a dent in the funds total.. so I’d ask the spending committee to meet weekly to brainstorm more affective ways to deploy the funds.

the committee members would be payed a part time wage yearly so msybr 15-20k a year, each member payed out by-weekly… through all this we would also be heavily promoting our donation addresses so it’s possible our funds would grow even faster than we could spend them…

Nice idea to discuss the order book, much more insightful than price levels.
If you can somehow visualize this or screen clip a visualization from non-log, would be very nice.
I think your view on spending policies is wrong. The objective is not to spend, but to spend if and where spending can make impact - otherwise we can just throw it down the toilet if the objective would be to just get rid of funds. Anyhow, you will soon see. We are moving to a _post-funding_ strategy for those who make significant contributions.

Regarding hiring yeastplume (Michael), I do not think he cares about the money. He just works on something that he finds interesting. At the moment there is something that interests him more than Grin.
This is actually the case for many old developers. They are just busy working on other projects that they find interesting. So far I never heard old developers complain about wanting to work on Grin but not being able to get the funding they want. So even with all the funds in the world, you cannot buy what is not for sale.

I specifically mention not throwing it down the drain. Maybe watch the whole video? I know it sucks but ya might learn something.

you are right that being able to show you my screen would be helpful. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

@syntaxjak, I suggest the alternative name “Grin Investing Committee”, because “spending” implies “sending money that does not come back” while “investing” implies “spending resources that grow wealth”.

I’m giving GRIN one more chance. A friendly reminder that, if GRIN doesn’t benefit me, I’m not interested in it either. So if there is no chance that I’ll many any profit here, let me know right away to reduce the waste of time.

Here is my pitch if there are people willing to pay for this: **even if the cryptocurrency is private, what is the point if the marketplaces and social networks are not private? I propose an anonymity layer for the Internet that is convenient and easy to use.** The marketplaces and social networks that will grow around it will drive up the demand of GRIN. People will do business in GRIN and as it moves in a circle, never being converted to fiat, its supply with be reduced, raising its price and rewarding those that helped in making this anonymity layer happen.

Here is a brief document that I’m writing that explains how it will be implemented:

Tor is a honeypot. They place security vulnerabilities in one version, hit their targets, then remove the vulnerability in the next. As recent as 28th of October (about a week ago), they have patched yet another critical security vulnerability.

I’ve abandoned Tor all the way back in 2014. They were literally funded by the U.S. military. Remember: **if the product is without cost, YOU are the product being sold.**

@Anynomous, you’re probably behind the curve. I remember that, **all the way back in 2019,** dark marketplaces were already abandoning Tor for I2P! I simply happened to abandon them faster by doing so in 2014. If you are relying on Tor for anonymity, you’re probably making a mistake, exposing yourself to government agencies.

> **[Darknet Marketplaces Shift from Tor to I2P – DarkNet KING](https://darknetking.com/channel/technology-news/darknet-marketplaces-shift-from-tor-to-i2p/)**

**If I2P weren’t so heavyweight, bloated and inconvenient, I wouldn’t be proposing this.** I2P is the real competitor for me. I think that an anonymity network that is convenient and far easier to use than I2P is possible. The dark marketplaces and social networks that will flourish from it will drive the demand of some coin so much that it will far outpace the cost. I could ask the equivalent of 50 ounces of gold and yet that is little in comparison to the appreciation that the economic activity from these dark communities would generate.

Nice sharing, AFAIK Grin is using Tor as a way to create the off-chain address, and in case tor is unreachable, it will generate slatepack. Do you think I2P will facilitate in any ways/processes for grin?

> Do you think I2P will facilitate in any ways/processes for grin?

Yes (although I think I2P is suboptimal for this job)! Slatepacks are slightly inconvenient and, if the exchange could be automated between two parties online, that would improve the user experience. The anonymity layer could provide the link between the two without letting others know that they have communicating with each other.

But the greater point is: **if the coin is private but the marketplaces are not, isn’t the point defeated?** Anonymous spaces for doing business are needed as well.
