We can start another thread to discuss dev funding styles if you want (although I thought that’s what this thread was), but before I go, I have to address this:
That is not how bounties work. The entire point of a bounty is to not require people to come up with their own work proposals. If the community has a need, they publish a bounty for it with a given reward for a given scope of work. Then devs don’t have to deal with the drama/politics around whether their work is worth paying, or for how much it should be paid, or what even the scope of work is.
Bounties should enable devs to contribute without getting tangled up in the bureaucracy of the entire funding request process.
Its disappointing to me that CC refuses to entertain bounties for years, even though so many community members support it, especially given that nobody on CC seems to even know what a bounty is.
Based on what arguments does the CC not know what a bounty is🤔? A bounty is a bounty and is just a funding format. A funding proposal basically does the same, making it easier for Devs to focus on development instead of politics. More importantly we get again to the point where I am reading “the CC does this or that”, or the “CC does not do this or that”. The community council holds the keys, but anyone in the community as individual or as group can make a) funding proposal, b) a funding request, c) a bounty with conditional upfront payment, d) a bounty e) something else entirely. No one is stopping you or anyone else to make such a contribution. The CC has never stopped the making of any bounties or has anything against bounties as payment form. We only argue not to limit funding to bounties only, because why would we?
I agree, would be nice to have more bounties. Conditional payout though, BTC above 30k. Looking forward to read more bounty proposals from community members.
